Toronto-based Canadian Singer/Songwriter Marysa Taylor's soulful sound is nurtured by her passion for singing and her devotion to the music that is her life.
From a very young age, Marysa was singing and performing. Taking the lead from her mother, a vocal/piano instructor, she started vocal training by the age of five. This allowed music to play the lead role throughout her upbringing, providing her with a solid foundation of extensive live performance experience, instruction, and adaptability. Her unique style of music serves the Singer/Songwriter genre well and is credited and nurtured by her varied musical background. She grew up singing gospel and, like any child her age at that time, had a love for R&B and Pop music. It was in her teens that she discovered the soulful world of Jazz and Blues.
At the age of 17, Marysa stepped into the world of musical theatre after being offered the lead role of ‘Eponine’ in her high school’s musical theatre production of ‘Les Misérables.’ Marysa was then scouted to take the lead at a Southern Alberta Theater Company. After a successful and noteworthy run, Marysa moved to Edmonton, Alberta, where she enrolled in private vocal studies at Grant MacEwan College and The Alberta College Conservatory of Music. In addition to her studies, songwriting and collaborating with local musicians/producers became her focus, along with performing live throughout the city.
